Bom Chicka Duh Duh

You will have seen the latest Lynx Bom Chicka Wah Wah promotion featuring Kelly Brook, where lucky teams of guys get to go to Miami and battle it out for the attention of the ‘Lynx Mynxes’. Great. Spot on for the target audience. Good work then from the agency that created it Bartle Ballsup Hegarty right? erm not really, here’s the rub. This is a classic case of a big cumbersome creaking agency more interested in creative awards for their tv ads than actually getting the full strategy right. why? Well they managed to create a half-ok microsite and also ran a promotional page with Yahoo! and theres even a front page video on Yahoo! to promote the final being shown on MTV today at 5pm (which i will watch for research purposes
) but how the hell do you find it? Try searching Google, Yahoo! or MSN for any related term (lynx, lynx effect, lynx players, lynx rally, bom chicka wah wah) and see what you find….. i’ll save you the trouble; nowt. There’s absolutely no PPC strategy to help drive traffic to the site which may have helped them achieve a higher sign up rate of more than 98 members!
However there is a silver lining, at least someone is thinking about PPC out there, a search for bom chicka wah wah returns a paid listing for Sumo Sams t shirt shop which sells a t-shirt with the infamous logo, apparently its now his best seller! Good work Sumo Sam.
Lets think about that target audience again…
